Programs
HeartSafe Program
Sudden cardiac arrest suffered outside the hospital setting is responsible for approximately 350,000 deaths annually in the United States. Of those victims approximately 5,000 -7,000 are children.
Sequoia Healthcare District has allocated $350,000 to place and maintain automated external defibrillators in public
locations throughout the District’s geography as well as coordinating training for the devices.
Community Grants
A community’s health care needs are served by a broad array of health-related programs and initiatives. These include local health and wellness programs, community-based clinics, health provider educational programs, and other programs and organizations that promote physical, emotional and psychological well being.
The Sequoia Healthcare District seeks through the District’s grant making program to leverage District assets and make significant contributions to the health of the community.
Nursing Education
To prepare a ready supply of registered nurses for our community, the Sequoia Healthcare District created and provides funding for a unique collaboration among Cañada College, San Francisco State University (SFSU), and Sequoia Hospital. Look for our upcoming Information Session to be held on October 17.
District Initiatives
Sequoia Healthcare District has developed and provides ongoing support for several long-term healthcare initiatives, which include the Samaritan House
Free Medical Clinic of Redwood City, the Children's Health Initiative and Nurses for Redwood City Schools.
