The Board of Directors of Sequoia Healthcare District has selected its plan for upcoming elections. The District boundaries will be divided in to five areas, each with about 45,000 residents. The voters who live in each area will select the Board member to represent them starting with the November 2018 elections. The candidates must live within the area. This system replaces the current at-large system of voting where all the voters living in the SHD area could vote for all candidates.
At the February 7, 2018 Board meeting , the members will determine which three of the five areas will be contested for election in 2018 and which two will be contested in 2020.
