Responding to a concern about a predicted critical nursing shortage, Sequoia Healthcare District agreed to fund a nursing education partnership that would result in producing 400 or more highly qualified new nurses for our community.
The partners included: San Francisco State University who would be responsible for offering a Bachelor of Nursing program, Canada College who agreed to host the program on their campus and Sequoia Hospital who agreed to supervise the clinical instruction.
This special two-year program currently has 80 enrolled students, many of them District residents who will soon join more than 300 previous students who have successfully completed the program and are working as registered nurses.
Sequoia Healthcare District has committed to funding this program through 2017.
