The San Mateo Medical Center operates two clinics in the North Fair Oaks area of San Mateo County, one for children and the other for adults. These two clinics combined are the medical home to most of the residents of the Fair Oaks community, many of whom are uninsured or have government insurance coverage.
The Sequoia Healthcare District’s $2 million dollar annual contribution pays a large portion of clinic operating expenses, including staff salaries.
Planning is under way to build a new, comprehensive clinic in this area to increase efficiency and reduce operating costs. The District has pledged a lead gift of $4.5 million dollars toward construction of a new clinic.
