Wellness Initiative

<< back

The Wellness Initiative serves low-income older adults at the Fair Oaks Intergenerational Center with health and exercise programs, nutrition education, socialization and activities.

by Family Service Agency

What it is: Almost all older adults at the Fair Oaks Intergenerational Center have incomes that are far less than the county-set minimum of self sufficient, while most either have or are at risk of developing chronic conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes and depression, conditions whose advance can be slowed or halted by activity, stimulation, good nutrition and exercise. The Family Service Agency provides case management and services that fulfill these needs.

It’s time to start some new activity when you start feeling down in the dumps. Join a club. Volunteer for a cause that is important to you. Take a class. Meet new people, get out of your rut and be part of something. Have fun!
