South San Mateo County Meals on Wheels
Giving qualified homebound older adults hot, nutritious meals to help them remain healthy and independent.
by Peninsula Volunteers, Inc.
What it is: Nothing is more critical to a person’s survival than food, and Peninsula Volunteers’ Meals on Wheels program has been bringing food to homebound older adults since 1978, and last year delivered more than 51,000 such meals to those individuals in Southern San Mateo County. The Sequoia Healthcare District grants will help Meals on Wheels serve more than 60,000.
Last year 75 percent of recipients were female, 80 percent were Medi-Cal clients, the average age was 76.
