School Nursing Services

Maintain school nursing services in Redwood City School District and add an instructional element on obesity prevention and education for children and their parents.

What it is: Budget reductions, program mandates from the state and changing medical requirements of students themselves have left most public schools short on nursing staff. With four full-time equivalent school nursing positions serving a population of 9,500 students on 17 campuses, Redwood City School District finds itself in a similar position. At the same time, childhood obesity is epidemic in San Mateo County, with one in four children in the fifth, seventh and ninth grades obese. Funding for one additional full-time equivalent school nursing position will be leveraged to expand the district’s health and nutrition program.

To avoid a flu pandemic the best thing to do is stay home and avoid contact with others. That means your food, water and other supplies should always be sufficient to keep you going for at least three days.
