Program for Children and Families

<< back

The program addresses primary health, dental, mental and behavioral health needs of homeless children and their families.

by Shelter Network

What it is: Economic conditions have hit hard, pushing many families into homelessness. The issue has been serious in San Mateo County, with an average waiting list of 40 to 50 for the few housing slots available through Shelter Network. Currently, the waiting list is 135 families long. The grant will help the agency make health service referrals, provide nutrition and health workshops at four sites and will provide mental health services for dozens of children.
