What it is: Adult Fitness is an active, regular, one-hour program for mentally disabled adults to improve muscle strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Mentally disabled adults can become subject to hypokinetic maladies — sedentary life styles lead to obesity and a host of other illnesses. Adult Fitness used the 3-2-1 formula — for every one-hour block of time, 30 minutes are devoted to cardiovascular activity, 20 minutes to strength and 10 minutes to flexibility.

Tip: For Community Health Tip from Mental Health Association of Sans Mateo County
A handful of cereal makes a great snack any time of the day. It’s much better for your health than a bar of chocolate, snack food or pastry. Cereal makes hunger pangs quickly disappear, and the only effect of overindulging is you feel full. And that’s the point!
